Note

According to Grandfather David was born in Wales, came to the U.S, in the 1830s and bought a farm in Union Mills about 9 miles NW of Dodgeville. His children were born on that farm. At the age of 46 he was killed by the kick of a horse[peter.FTW] at the age of 46, killed by the kick of a horse. Welsh was mother tongue, but apparently did not speak it at home since Jonathan could not carry on a conversation in Welsh (FPJ 11/58) Assuming Elizabeth had no living siblings, David must have had sisters in Ridgeway and Barneveld who married a Harris and a Lewis (FPJ11/58)
